Solomon's Lodge #121 AF&AM

From the East

5/28/2018

My Brethren all;
We have reached an important milestone in our lodge’s history. No one knew in November 1865 what would become of the lodge they petitioned to charter, but we all know what they started. They started a lodge that had an impact on the local community and still does, just recently we helped Masonic Charities of Maryland provide a scholarship for a deserving young student. They started a lodge that welcomed in men from all over the community and all walks of life into this great fraternity, we continue to do the same. At our recent Past Masters night we voted on the petition of a man in his seventies to become a mason and raised a man much younger to the sublime degree of Master Mason.
On June 20 we will meet at our regular communication and vote to merge with Patmos Lodge #70. Two Howard county lodges joining together to form a stronger masonic presence in the County. If you have concerns, questions or issues regarding this merger, please email me at mehartz@comcast.net or call me at 410-991-3496. Also enclosed with this Trestle Board is the resolution of merger, which is actually what we will vote on June 20, and the Merger section of Article XVI of the Constitution of the Grand Lodge of Maryland.
I cannot write to you without taking a moment to remember a great Masonic leader in Maryland who recently laid down his working tools. I ask all of you to remember MWPGM Benny G. Owens, who was a dear friend of mine and of our lodge. His recent passing is a blow to our great fraternity. I’d also like to congratulate the newly elected Grand Lodge officers and wish them much success on the tasks they will be taking on.
As has been the custom of the lodge, we will gather together for worship and a celebration of St. John's Day in June. Solomon's Lodge will gather together for the last time for this event on Sunday June 17 at 10:00 with Pastor Rick Oursler, PM at Wesley Chapel UMC 7745 Waterloo Road (Rt 175), Jessup MD 20794. Later that day, it will be my pleasure to once again host a family cookout and pool party at our home (850 Elmhurst Rd. Severn, MD 21144) beginning at 2:00 PM. We will provide the hot dogs, hamburgers and rolls and ask you bring a salad, side dish or dessert.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

 Mark
